Greg Heffley is any typical 6th grader in the 2nd Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie, Rodrick Rules. Like any other siblings, they fight, until mom comes up with “Mom Bucks,” that they earn for bonding with each other. When mom, dad, and Manny go to a Water Park, Rodrick throws a party and Greg gets involved. But, what happens when they get caught, and Rodrick gets grounded from the Talent Show? Will Greg talk his parents into letting Rodrick play with his band, Loaded Diaper in the competition? Watch the movie to find out!
The 6th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been announced! Set to be released on November 15, 2011, it will be called “Cabin Fever.” The cover shows Greg stuck in the house while it is snowing outside.
Jeff Kinney is releasing a revised and expanded edition of The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book. The book has 16 more pages of full-color comics (for a total of 32 pages of comics) and 32 more interactive pages. The interactive pages ask kids things like “What was the best dream you ever had?” and “What was the worst thing you ever ate?”
The interactive journal is a great supplement to the book series because it helps kids express themselves and practice writing in a fun way that mirrors the way that Greg writes in the Wimpy Kid books. It will also make a nice keepsake to look back on when the child is older.
When is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 Movie coming out? March 25, 2011! The movie is based on the second book in the Wimpy Kid series, Rodrick Rules. Familiar characters from the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie will be back including Greg (the Wimpy Kid), Rowley, Chirag, Manny, Fregley, Rodrick, and Patty.
We did a whole post about where you can buy Diary of a Wimpy Kid Shirts if you are serious about wanting to find them. I’ve never seen them locally except when Borders had special promotions, so you will have to order them online. Your best bet is StylinOnline.com but you can also find them on eBay. We’ve done the searching for you, so you can just click on our links and it will take you directly to them.
There are at least 4 different Diary of a Wimpy Kid Puzzles, each corresponding with 1 of the first 4 books. They are 200 pieces each and run about $10 each or 2 for $15.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid hats are hard to find because 1) only a couple of styles were made, 2) they were made for a limited time, and 3) they are sold out in most places. Check out our Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hat post for all of the places that we have been able to find them.
As if the release of Diary of a Wimpy Kid “The Ugly Truth” were not exciting enough, we have now gotten word about a new Diary of a Wimpy Kid tour. The book goes on sale November 9, and the tour will start that day in Austin, Texas. The tour will then head to Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, and Birmingham that same week. Bookstores will be giving away up to 2000 tickets for fans to see Jeff Kinney speak. Other events planned include a Cheese Touch board game and a dunk tank.
With the impending release of Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5: The Ugly Truth, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Ice Cream Truck will again be touring the country. Last year one truck visited 40 locations, and this year two trucks will visit even more (52 total).
The tour will begin on August 15 and end August 28 with stops from Florida to the Midwest to Canada. Although Jeff Kinney will not be present at the stops, it will still be a pretty awesome opportunity. The truck will be giving out purple treats at each location and Abrams will donate a children’s book to nonprofit organization First Book for each treat distributed. You get ice cream and someone in need gets a book! I’m particularly excited because one of the stops is only 10 minutes from where I live.
It’s official! The fifth installment of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is going to be titled “The Ugly Truth.” We do not yet know much about the plot except the tagline that we keep seeing–”This Fall…Everything Changes.” We also previously reported a bit of a teaser from the author: “I feel like everything in the series has been leading up to the fifth book, which is about change and the different ways Greg and his best friend, Rowley, deal with it,” said Jeff Kinney. “To me, this book is the linchpin in the series, and I’m excited to be writing it.”
Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, has issued a press release with some new information about Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5. The fifth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will go on sale Tuesday, November 9, 2010. We know that the cover will be purple, but we will not actually see it or the title of the book until July.
One little hint that we got about the book came from the author himself. “I feel like everything in the series has been leading up to the fifth book, which is about change and the different ways Greg and his best friend, Rowley, deal with it,” said Jeff Kinney. “To me, this book is the linchpin in the series, and I’m excited to be writing it.”
If you happen to be at BookExpo in New York City May 26-27, you’ll see a banner in the hallway for the book as well as giveaways of water bottles and bookmarks. Even more exciting, Jeff Kinney will be signing books at 11am on May 27.
We’ll be posting information as we get it. One thing we know for sure is “This Fall…Everything Changes.”
