Wimpy Kid 6
The 6th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been announced! Set to be released on November 15, 2011, it will be called “Cabin Fever.” The cover shows Greg stuck in the house while it is snowing outside.

Other than that, we don’t really know too much about it. It is available for pre-order from all of the usual booksellers. Amazon is selling it for $11.16 but Barnes and Noble is blowing them out of the water at $8.37. We’ll post more once we learn more about it.

Jeff Kinney is releasing a revised and expanded edition of The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book. The book has 16 more pages of full-color comics (for a total of 32 pages of comics) and 32 more interactive pages. The interactive pages ask kids things like “What was the best dream you ever had?” and “What was the worst thing you ever ate?”

The interactive journal is a great supplement to the book series because it helps kids express themselves and practice writing in a fun way that mirrors the way that Greg writes in the Wimpy Kid books. It will also make a nice keepsake to look back on when the child is older.

You can pre-order The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book from Amazon for $9.84 and it is eligible for free Super Saver Shipping.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid hats are hard to find because 1) only a couple of styles were made, 2) they were made for a limited time, and 3) they are sold out in most places.

Amazon has had a couple in stock but they sell out quickly and are often through resellers.

Borders has a purple one but it is not available locally. If you are lucky, you can keep trying back at your local stores or Borders.com and they do come into stock every now and again.

If you are in a pinch and not looking for any particular hat, Retrofacts is selling some through their eBay store as well:

It’s official! The fifth installment of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is going to be titled “The Ugly Truth.” We do not yet know much about the plot except the tagline that we keep seeing–“This Fall…Everything Changes.” We also previously reported a bit of a teaser from the author: “I feel like everything in the series has been leading up to the fifth book, which is about change and the different ways Greg and his best friend, Rowley, deal with it,” said Jeff Kinney. “To me, this book is the linchpin in the series, and I’m excited to be writing it.”

You can pre-order diary of a Wimpy Kid 5 now, and it will be released on November 9.

Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, has issued a press release with some new information about Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5. The fifth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will go on sale Tuesday, November 9, 2010. We know that the cover will be purple, but we will not actually see it or the title of the book until July.

One little hint that we got about the book came from the author himself. “I feel like everything in the series has been leading up to the fifth book, which is about change and the different ways Greg and his best friend, Rowley, deal with it,” said Jeff Kinney. “To me, this book is the linchpin in the series, and I’m excited to be writing it.”

If you happen to be at BookExpo in New York City May 26-27, you’ll see a banner in the hallway for the book as well as giveaways of water bottles and bookmarks. Even more exciting, Jeff Kinney will be signing books at 11am on May 27.

We’ll be posting information as we get it. One thing we know for sure is “This Fall…Everything Changes.”

April 8, 2010

Great news for Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans. Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5 (as of yet untitled) is set to be released on November 9, 2010. All that we have heard so far is that it is about Greg and Rowley’s friendship. Of course, that could mean so many things. One thing is for sure–you need to pre-order your copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5 so that you will be one of the first to get it!

Edited: We’ve seen a new tagline for the book now “This Fall….Everything Changes”!

In anticipation of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie coming in April, a new Wimpy Kid book is being released. This one is actually a “diary” of the making of the Wimpy Kid Movie. It’s hardcover and over 200 pages.

The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary will take you through the process of turning a hit book series into a movie. The book will contain “photographs, script pages, storyboard sketches, costume designs, and original art by Jeff Kinney.”

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days is about to ship! We found a really cool video below from Youtube that shows how the books were actually produced. If you have any Wimpy Kid fans in your house, it’s worth watching. The video is called “Diary of a WImpy Kid: Dog Days – On Press Sneak Preview”

You can still order your copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days from Amazon and be among the first to have it.

We’ve been checking all of the online bookstores for the best deal on Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days. So far, the best deal that we have found is from Amazon. They are charging $7.67 if you preorder it. If you are ordering other books, it is eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping if you order $25 or more.

The other option would be to pre-order it from Borders. It’s $10.46 but you can have it shipped to your local store and not have to pay any shipping charges.

My daughter has already been saving up a dollar at a time to put away enough to get her copy. She just got Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 from Scholastic last month and is now caught up on the series. I have a feeling that this book is going to be hard to get if we don’t pre-order it!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days is due to be released October 12.
