Amulet Books has announced a cool new reading campaign that goes along with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book franchise. The campaign will run from now through November 5, 2013, (the release date of the 8th Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book).
The first phase of the campaign will feature cars that are wrapped to resemble the first 7 books in the series. It will include car window clings as well as other social media. The cars will be driving across 7 regions of the country, and each car will have not only the color of the book but also reminders of the applicable book.
The second part of the campaign will be launched during Book Expo America in New York from May 29 to June 1.
To participate in the campaigns, you can do a couple of different things. One is to be on the lookout for the window clings and character cutout kits at your local stores and libraries. Another is to follow the #READWIMPY hash tag on Twitter and participate by tweeting photos when you spot one of the wrapped vehicles. (You can already see some fun tweets online)
It’s pretty clear that Wimpy Kid is ramping up for a huge release for the next book. Will you be a part of it?
Great news for Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans! Abrams Books has announced that the 8th Diary of a Wimpy Kid book will be release in November of 2013. In addition to a U.S. release, it will also be released in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Korea, and Norway.
Although they did not release the cover image or the name, we have heard rumors about “School Stress” or “School Dilemma.” These are only rumors, however.
The image released above doesn’t tell us too much. Obviously the “8 balls” refer to it being the 8th in the series. But I guess it could have something to do with pool. Or maybe “when it rains, it pours” or something along those lines?
However, if you are looking for new Diary of a Wimpy Kid Shirts in general, Stylin Online has 30 of them, in both short and long sleeves. And they do ship Internationally! Some of my favorites include “Indoor Person,” “Don’t Be a Ploopy,” “Stealthinator,” and “Cheese Touch.” They also have a few hats and other accessories such as a wristband an a button.
The 7th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series, The Third Wheel, is set to be released November 13, 2012. You can actually pre-order it right now from a number of different places to be sure that you get it as soon as it is released.
Here’s what we know so far:
Love is in the air—but what does that mean for Greg Heffley?
A Valentine’s Day dance at Greg’s middle school has turned his world upside down. As Greg scrambles to find a date, he’s worried he’ll be left out in the cold on the big night. His best friend, Rowley, doesn’t have any prospects either, but that’s a small consolation.
An unexpected twist gives Greg a partner for the dance and leaves Rowley the odd man out. But a lot can happen in one night, and in the end, you never know who’s going to be lucky in love.
As we announced in the spring, the third Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie is going to be released August 3, 2012. The movie is a combination of the 3rd and 4th Diary of a Wimpy Kid books (Last Straw and Dog Days).
You can see the official movie trailer below. It starts out with Greg getting into his usual embarrassing trouble by losing his swim trunks on the diving board at the public pool. It ends with a confession he probably should not have made.
My 11-year-old daughter says “It looks like a very kid friendly movie that is humorous for all ages. It would be a good movie for a family night.”
Filming for the 3rd Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie (Dog Days) is now completed. The plot follows both the 3rd and 4th Wimpy Kid books, The Last Straw and Dog Days. School is out for summer and Greg’s plans do not quite go as expected. Familiar faces are back playing characters such as Greg, Rodrick, Susan and Frank Heffley, Rowley Jefferson, and Fregley.
The movie is in post-production and is scheduled for an August 3, 2012, release. You can read more at IMDB.com.
Great news for Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans! Abram’s Amulet Books has announced that author Jeff Kinney will be publishing another Wimpy Kid Book, the 7th in the series. The book is not yet titled (and actually has not even all been written) but the image released has the tagline “Love Is In the Air.” We do know that the book will be about a school dance and a love interest for Greg or Rowley (or both!).
The 7th Wimpy Kid book will be released in the United States on November 13, 2012.
We’ve put together a whole collection of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Shirts from Amazon, eBay, Borders, and more. We just added new ones from StylinOnline.com but figured that we would post them here new as well so you don’t miss them. Here are some of our favorites. StylinOnline has really added a lot!

The 6th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been released! It is called Cabin Fever.
Here’s the official description:
“Greg Heffley is in big trouble. School property has been damaged, and Greg is the prime suspect. But the crazy thing is, he’s innocent. Or at least sort of.
The authorities are closing in, but when a surprise blizzard hits, the Heffley family is trapped indoors. Greg knows that when the snow melts he’s going to have to face the music, but could any punishment be worse than being stuck inside with your family for the holidays?”
Greg Heffley is any typical 6th grader in the 2nd Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie, Rodrick Rules. Like any other siblings, they fight, until mom comes up with “Mom Bucks,” that they earn for bonding with each other. When mom, dad, and Manny go to a Water Park, Rodrick throws a party and Greg gets involved. But, what happens when they get caught, and Rodrick gets grounded from the Talent Show? Will Greg talk his parents into letting Rodrick play with his band, Loaded Diaper in the competition? Watch the movie to find out!
